The Merton Community School District is a 4K-8 grade public school district located in southeast Wisconsin in the beautiful Village of Merton. The Village of Merton is located 20 miles west of Milwaukee in Waukesha County. We are nestled in what is considered the “Lake Country” area in Waukesha County. We serve roughly 900 students in two schools; Merton Primary School (grades 4-year-old kindergarten through fourth grade) and Merton Intermediate School (fifth grade through eighth grade). Both schools are located on the same campus. Our district serves families and students from the Towns of Merton and Lisbon as well as the Villages of Merton and Hartland. The district consists of a small business center, rural areas, and over thirty subdivisions ranging from five to over one hundred homes.
Students who complete the required program of studies attend prestigious Hartland Arrowhead Union High School in the Town of Merton. Arrowhead Union High School serves students in grades 9-12 and includes 2000+ students who come from other Arrowhead feeder K-8 districts similar to Merton. The Merton Community School District is the second largest of the seven K-8 districts feeding into Arrowhead Union High School. Merton is home to small class sizes and wonderful facilities focused on developing the social, emotional, and academic components of a child.
The Merton Community School District has a reputation for high standards and accountability. According to the DPI’s school report cards, the District continues to exceed expectations and has been highlighted by multiple sources as one of the best schools in southeast Wisconsin the past several years. All this is done in spite of an annual cost per student for K-8 schools below the statewide and the Waukesha County average annually.
